Mobile hairdresser in Huntingdon, at your kitchen table.
Colour, cuts, blow dries and occasion hair at home across Huntingdon, Godmanchester and the villages up to the A1. Twenty years behind the chair, Vidal Sassoon trained, around twenty minutes down the road in Yelling.
Huntingdon is twenty minutes up the old Roman road.
The way I get to Huntingdon is older than any salon. From Yelling I cut across to Papworth Everard and pick up the A1198, which follows the line of the Roman road north to Godmanchester. From there it is over the Great Ouse, with Port Holme meadow alongside, and into town. On a normal day it is around twenty minutes. When the A1198 is slow, the A14 is the other way in.
That makes Huntingdon one of the regular towns on my round rather than an occasional trip, and it means Godmanchester, which I drive through to get there, is closer still. My name is Biba. I have been doing hair for twenty years, I trained at Vidal Sassoon, and I worked at senior and director level in salons before I set up my own home salon in Yelling and a mobile service that covers Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire.
Huntingdon is a town a lot of people commute out of, on the trains or the A14, and the hours that are left at the end of the day are not the hours salons tend to be open. That is the gap a mobile hairdresser fills best. You get home, I arrive with the kit, and the colour is processing while the dinner is in the oven. Nobody had to sit in traffic on the ring road at five o'clock to make an appointment.
What you get is exactly what you would get in a salon: the same Wella, Moroccanoil and Olaplex products, the same professional dryer and tongs, and a proper consultation before anything happens to your hair. If what you have in mind is not going to work on your hair, I will tell you so and tell you what will get you closest.
Four steps, and one of them is the time of day.
- 01
Book the home visit
On Fresha, choose the Home Visit version of the service, not the salon one. They are listed separately, and the home visit is the one that brings me up the road to Huntingdon.
- 02
Pick your end of the day
If you work, take an evening slot. If it is hair up for an occasion, take an early Saturday. Both go first, so book the one you want as soon as you know.
- 03
Tell me about the door
Address, postcode and anything about access. A second floor flat in the middle of town with no lift is fine, but I would like to know before I start carrying the kit up.
- 04
Colour, cut, gone
Salon products, salon standards, and I clear up after myself. You did not have to queue on the ring road at five o'clock to get it.
Timing matters more in Huntingdon than almost anywhere else I go, because so many people here are fitting an appointment around a commute. My hours run until 8pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, so an appointment after you get home from work is a normal booking rather than a favour. On Saturdays I start at 8.30am, which is early enough to have hair up and finished before most daytime events. If neither works, tell me what does and I will see what I can do.
Huntingdon, Godmanchester, and up towards the A1.

Godmanchester is the closest, at around fifteen minutes, because it sits on the road I take in. Huntingdon itself is just over the river, with Hartford along the bank to the east and Hinchingbrooke and Brampton to the west, around twenty minutes from me. North of town the Stukeleys lead up to Alconbury and the new homes at Alconbury Weald, and Kings Ripton is out past Hartford. The Offords and Graveley are on the back roads between Huntingdon and Yelling, so they are never far out of my way.
Buckden is covered on the St Neots page, and St Ives, the Hemingfords and Houghton and Wyton are on the St Ives page. The rule everywhere is anywhere within roughly a 30 to 40 minute drive from Yelling. If you are further out, towards Ramsey or Sawtry, ask before you assume the answer is no.
Colour, blow dries, and everything else in the car.
Colour is a big part of what people book with me at home, and it all travels. Half, three-quarter and full head foils, hand-painted balayage, toners to take the brass out of blonde, and full head colour refreshes. If you are not sure which technique suits you, I have written about how I decide between balayage and foils, and when Olaplex is and is not worth adding.
The rest of the services list comes too. Cuts for the whole family, standard and style blow dries, up-dos and special occasion hair, Brazilian blow dries, Wella and Moroccanoil mask treatments, men’s perms and flow cuts. Brows, lashes, waxing and facials can go on the same visit, so you only need to be at home once.
What does not come with me is a backwash. I do not carry a portable basin or a hydraulic chair, so your hair is washed at your kitchen sink or over the bath. In a town centre flat that usually means the kitchen, and it works perfectly well. I bring the towels, the gown and the dustpan.
Two practical things about booking. Choose the Home Visit version of the service on Fresha, because the salon version is listed separately and will not send me to you. And there is a £10 call-out on top of the service price, already built into the home visit listing, which covers the travel anywhere inside the usual area. Huntingdon costs no more than anywhere else.
For timings, expect about an hour for a wash, cut and blow dry, and two to three hours for foils depending on how much hair you have. Before your first colour with me you will need a skin test at least 48 hours beforehand. I can post it to you, it takes about a minute, and colour does not go ahead without it.
People whose day does not end at five.
Commuters first. Anybody who gets home from the station or off the A14 after the salons have shut, and would rather have their colour done in their own kitchen than give up a Saturday for it. Shift workers too, who need a weekday slot that fits around a rota.
Then families on the newer estates around Brampton and Alconbury Weald, where an hour at home is achievable and a trip into town with children is not. Children's cuts are easier at home in any case. And older clients, or anybody for whom a salon chair has become hard work. There is a separate page about home visits for older and housebound clients if that is who you are booking for.
And occasions. A blow dry before a dinner, hair up for a wedding, several people getting ready in one house. That is one of my favourite ways to spend a Saturday morning. If you are weighing up a home visit against a salon, there is an honest piece on what a mobile hairdresser actually costs and a walk through of what happens on a first home visit.
What clients said about the finish.

Biba is amazing. She brought my hair to life, she blow dried it and styled it so well. Really happy with her and she gives honest advice. Can't wait to go back to her for a blow dry and style

Nobody can do my hair as well as Biba, my hair is naturally very curly but I like it straight and I always end up feeling amazing when she does it for me. The pictures speak for themselves

My first experience with Biba was fabulous! I am so pleased with my hair colour.

These are reviews left for colour and blow dry appointments. They are not tagged by town, so I am not claiming they come from Huntingdon. Every review, from Google, Facebook and Fresha, is on the reviews page.
Yelling, the same road back down.
If you would rather have an hour out of the house, the home salon is at 10 High Street, Yelling, PE19 6SD. From Huntingdon it is the same road in reverse, down through Godmanchester to Papworth Everard and across to Yelling. There is free parking right outside and the kettle is always on. You can read about how I work before you decide.
Some clients do a bit of both, a home visit on a busy week and a trip out to the salon when they fancy the time to themselves. It is the same hands and the same products either way, and both versions are on Fresha, listed separately so you can see what each costs.
The full picture of the mobile service is on the mobile hairdressing page for Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire. If you have a question that is not answered here, send it over and I will answer it myself.
What Huntingdon clients ask first.
Do you really come out to Huntingdon?
Yes, Huntingdon is one of the regular towns on the round. From Yelling I go across to Papworth Everard and up the A1198, the old Roman road, into Godmanchester and over the river. It is around twenty minutes on a normal day and well inside roughly a 30 to 40 minute drive from Yelling. The A14 is the other way in when the traffic suits it.
Which parts of Huntingdon and the villages do you cover?
The town and Godmanchester, and the villages around them: Hartford, Hinchingbrooke, Brampton, Great Stukeley, Little Stukeley, Alconbury, Alconbury Weald, Kings Ripton, Grafham, Offord Cluny, Offord D'Arcy and Graveley. St Ives, the Hemingfords and Buckden are covered too, they just have their own pages.
Is the call-out charge higher for Huntingdon?
No. It is £10 on top of the service price, the same as everywhere inside the usual area, and it is built into the Home Visit version of the service on Fresha. There is nothing extra to pay on the day.
Can I have my hair done after work?
My hours run until 8pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, so an appointment after you get home from work is a normal booking rather than a favour. Those slots go quickly, so if you want a regular evening appointment it is worth booking the next one before I leave.
Can you do my hair at home before a wedding or an event?
Yes. Up-dos, special occasion hair and blow dries all travel, and getting ready at home with everybody in one place is far calmer than a salon on the morning of a wedding. On Saturdays I start at 8.30am, which is early enough to have hair up and finished before most daytime events. For a group, message me with numbers and a date before booking so I can block the time properly.
I live in a flat in the town centre. Is that a problem?
Not at all. I need a chair near a plug socket, a bit of floor space and a sink I can rinse at, and a small kitchen is plenty. Just tell me in the booking notes if there are stairs and no lift, and whether there is anywhere nearby I can stop to unload.
Can you do colour at my house?
Yes. Half, three-quarter and full head foils, balayage, toners and colour refreshes all come with me, and Olaplex can be added to a colour appointment. Before your first colour with me you need a skin test at least 48 hours beforehand. I can post it to you, and colour does not go ahead without it.
How much do you charge?
Prices depend on hair length, thickness and how long the appointment takes, so they are on Fresha where they stay accurate. The Home Visit version of each service already includes the call-out, so the price you see when you book is the price you pay.
